London elections 2008 May 3, 2008

So I’ve been keeping quite a close eye on the London elections and it seems Boris Johnson from the Conservative party won and thus the ending of Ken Livingstone’s (Labour party) 8 year of running London and speaking for it has ended.
Votes Statistics
Conservatives:- 1,168,738 for first and second inclination votes. (Boris Johnson)
Labour:- 1,028,966 (Ken Livingstone)
What I saw on the BBC last night was 2 men fighting for victory, however Boris won and he didn’t say anything bad about Ken, which I thought was nice of him, since if you watch the channel ‘Parliament 24′ (I think that’s right?) you will see nothing but people slandering each other. - It’s actually quite funny, but then if you look at the bigger picture you have two people fighting like children e.g. Gordon Brown and David Cameron, they just do it in a more incentive and clever way. Though back to the elections, I’m quite happy that Ken is out, as I HOPE that Boris Johnson hasn’t won just because of the votes, I hope he has won as I dearly hope he has good leadership capabilities and I sincerely HOPE that he changes London to decrease the crime it currently has.
Boris seems like a good person, especially when viewing this video, I just watched on YouTube: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Iy88oS9iY9A
He talks about combating crime, a cleaner London and especially recycling, which I think is a major crime in itself! I hope Boris puts his words into action, because I believe London does need improvement and crime needs to be talked about in a way never before. I’ve also read up on other blogs and news sites that Johnson hopes to provide a 24hour policing service - GREAT idea, should significantly de-militarise crime.
