proxy.png

I want to open up another host, specifically for proxy hosting, now finding a domain name is key at this time - I need to find something which will bring in some spark. I’ve already chosen a server I’m going to get dedicated to the proxy hosting, these are the specifications of it:

Dual Xeon 2.0Ghz
2GB of DDR Ram
(2) 80GB Hard Drive
2,000GB Bandwidth
Private VLAN and 5 IPS

I believe for proxy hosting 2GB of RAM is necessary, if even for just starting off, thus this is why I’m placing 2GB of RAM on this server, then once we grow, we will then add another 2GB of RAM making a total of 4GB of RAM and hopefully by then, the actual proxy hosting will be paying for itself, then we will be able to get another server and so forth. What I want on the server is lighttpd with directadmin installed, with these components, you cannot go wrong, seeing as these two things will help keep the RAM usage down, even though that is not my main worry. - Moreover, over usage of CPU is a concern, which may make myself potent to adding more money in upgrading the initial CPU - Though the CPU specification should be good enough, with the RAM being added all the time or when needed. ;)

Proxy hosting is major market, which I’ve seen on huge forums such as DP, usually the factor comes across as this:

factor1.png

Price: When I talk about price, the product (proxy hosting) has to be cheap, cheap enough to make a profit I believe, however, due to this being one of the major factors, features will have to be so low!

Reliability: Reliability isn’t a concern at first for those who are buying, especially on the forum DP, at first people like to just try a service out, because they have the money and generally if it’s cheap, you can’t lose, well only a couple dollars! (’But heck that’s not much’) Though after a service keeps going down, with my policy, there will be an uptime SLA and if that SLA is not followed they will be automatically given their money back depending on how much downtime there was. - Which is fair right? However to ensure there will be no more downtime, I will purchase another server with the same specs and load balance them both.

Credibility: I believe the forum user has to be quite active and popular, on DP I have near under 400 posts and 15 good standing iTraders, hopefully this will improve the credibility of myself, when offering proxy hosting. The thing with proxy hosting is that people do not like to invest into it, they look at it and consider it as a risky and heavy to support and generally they think it’s saturated, however there are loads out there looking for reliable proxy hosting and not everyone can afford hosting which allows proxies. - And whether that service will be reliable is another question.

Features: This is another major factor, people love is features, this is going to have to be one downfall for our service, features I’m glad will be limited, due to the extreme stress these proxies can put on a server. - Once a proxy has overused our maximum package for it’s quota, we will have to ask that person to get a VPS/Dedicated with us or he should be able to afford one by the time we give him this news. (Due to the ads, he ’should’ have on his proxy, as initially he is offering a free service)

Wish me some luck in the services I should be opening in the future, hopefully it will bring in some sort of money.

Thanks for reading,

3 Years December 29, 2007

3years.png

Yes, that is right! Echo-Unlimited.com has been around for near enough 3 years, we are to have an anniversary in the next 2 days, on the 31st of December! Just to mark down, echo-unlimited.com was created on: Creation Date: 2005-12-31. To addon, the domain name came from an old forum of mine, called echounlimited.be, it was a cosy little forum however in the end the domain expired, as it was a free .be domain, which was on promotion at the time I would have renewed it but SHAMELY I didn’t register it, my previous host did; I wish I kept it! (The good times, hey)

With three years of EU being up, I have to say that I love this blog to bits, it’s been with history with this blog being up on the internet for three years, it even includes details to WebExtension, which was the previous host I ran, however if you look on the very first blog page, you will find for some ODD reason find that it says the time stamp for the blog post was 30th December 1999. - Which is totally weird, as I didn’t even do that, nor do I have a reason as to why that would occur. *Maybe it’s a conspiracy and we are really 9+ old?* (Actually if this blog was 9 years old, I’d be quite ashamed seeing as this blog would HAVE to be by psychical LAW more than a PR3-5)

I’ll just stick with three years, it’s been great the past three years, I’ve been in the downs and ups and the highest I’ve ever been and it has been all recorded on this blog, hopefully in another three years, I’ll reflect on this post again and HOPEFULLY this blog will be a PR5, even though pagerank doesn’t matter (PR = PageRank = Google), it’s mainly the traffic, I’m concerned about and this December, we have received over 1000+ unique visitors on this blog, which isn’t bad at-all! (Especially for a pagerank 2 websites :p) Plus maily due to the fact that I have not advertised this blog anywhere, except for one link on WebHostingTalk.com and even that link back hasn’t brough to much visitors in!

So it is three years everyone, let’s see if I can keep this blog up and running for another three years, - if I do go bankrupt, this will be the blog that I will keep up, I will pre-pay for hosting like somewhere at dreamhost.com and HOPEFULLY when I come out of bankruptcy I will be able to view my online web presence I had previously. (NOTE: I’m not bankrupt, I’m just imagining if I became bankrupt! - okay, I’m weird :( )

Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed my very, very, very, very … very interesting ‘thing’, I mean anniversary write up. :-|

Feeling Ill

Posted by Jonathan in : Other , add a comment

Arghh

I’m feeling so ill, yesterday I just spent the whole day in my bed sleeping, it’s as if the energy was just sucked out of me. I’ve taken some pain killers, hopefully that will make me feel better *It has*, however I’ve got to stop going to sleep at like 2-4AM in the morning everyday, or I’m going to lose all my energy. I think I have to stop due to myself having diabetes, it could wear me down considerably plus I need to eat more snacks or I’ll just break down. Maybe I’m not cut out for this? But I’ll keep going, unless it gets to bad than I will talk to my doctor or just take a holiday/vacation!

Aside from my downside, I recently defragged my computer, and I must say things are much more faster than before, no more laggy issues and things are generally loading faster. - There are still some processes that need deleting, however it’s a pain when they are hiding somewhere around my computer, I also managed to delete around 6GB of data which wasn’t needed nor pertained to any value.

Edit: Recently today, I collapsed, and I went to hospital… what can I say? I guess I did overwork myself and I’m still doing it, my doctor has recommended that I stay in bed with a nice hot cup of coffee. (He didn’t mention the coffee; I did) - However I’m feeling fine now. - It’s just I’m quite shocked over this, I couldn’t imagine myself having a fall, it was simply like a blackout. Oh well. I live on. :)

Moving from Yahoo Small Business December 28, 2007

Moving from Yahoo Small Business Domains!

I’m wanting to move away from Yahoo Small Business Domains, due to them not offering to pay for domain renewals via PayPal. However, I’m having some troubles in doing this, as the company I want to transfer my domain to, is giving me errors, saying the following:

null

This error is occurring both at domainsite.com and name.com, when I choose to pay via Paypal for this domain transfer. I know name.com and domainsite.com are the same company and name.com being the lead and main website, however I don’t know why this is occurring for me. - Name actually do offer competitive pricing, I don’t know how they do it, however I thought they’d be losing out, seeing as the price increase in domains via icann. Basically, I want to move registrar for my domain “echo-unlimited.com”, I have near over 23 domains with name.com all working perfectly with exemplary features included.

Why do I want to move away form Yahoo Small Business?

1. Yahoo are not very versatile in what they offer due to them being resellers of Melbourne IT!
2. Name.com is icann accredited.
3. Yahoo does not provide very good support, from experience, I sent them in an email (a while back), it took them a week to reply to it. (I don’t mind a day or even up to two days, though 1 week is unacceptable)
4. Domain renewals are much cheaper and I’m about to renew this domain!

I guess that’s why! I mean I love name.com, however I’m not sure now as their system is not allowing me to transfer my domain over, and since I have 23 domains with them and another 24 domains over at domainsite.com, you’d think they would be giving me some special offer emails. - It would be nice, though I think Godaddy does this, they like to keep more in touch with their users, however Godaddy’s website is simply horrible, where domainsites.com/name.com loads more easily. ;)

Go Bidvertiser!

Go Bidvertiser!

At first I didn’t want to give Bidvertiser a go, seeing as I didn’t consider them one of the ‘big players’, like Google AdSense or Yahoo Publisher Network! However after being with them, they seem to be alright, I’ve got quite a few clicks on my advertising ads (Bidvertiser ads) on various places that I’ve placed the bidvertiser ads upon. e.g. a few upload services, which receive a couple hundred hits per day. To be honest, at the beginning, I thought Bidvertiser would only payout like 10 cents per click, however with clicks, I’ve earned more than $1, which is pretty good, if you can get lots of clicks from visitors; in the end it adds up.

Below are my earnings, the minimum payout is $10 via paypal, I’ve reached $12.50, so I should get paid by them, by the end of the month, if not they’ll receive an email from me! Hopefully the guys at Bidvertiser will be true to their word, if not, then what can I say? (It would be a complete waist of time of being with them and placing their ads on my website(s)). I’ve only been with them for a under a month today, so I’m not actually doing to badly!

Earnings from Bidvertiser!

I guess I’ll update this blog whether or not if I receive a payment from them. They seem pretty reliable, if I do actually receive payment, I will think moreover about using their advertising network and I may join it. - However I’ve seen more bad reviews than good on Google, though I’m taking all reviews to a grain of salt, as I’m testing the service myself and if it is ‘good’, I will give my own review of how things are going with Bidvertiser.com.

Merry Christmas December 25, 2007

Merrrrryyy CHRISMSJSHJSHJKJS

Merry Christmas from myself in the United Kingdom! :) It’s actually the 25th today, a few Americans online approached me saying Merry Christmas, well you know what, “it ain’t Christmas yet”! - Today I can officially say in the United Kingdom that it is Christmas… but it just doesn’t feel like Christmas. I mean with no snow nor cold weather (actually it is quite cold), but with NO SNOW, it just damn well doesn’t feel like Christmas. I could rant about this all day long, however I’ve got family.

Have a good one. ;)

I have a PR-4 forum profile December 22, 2007

Posted by Jonathan in : Uncategorized , add a comment

I love you Google!

This forum is the most visited forum, I go on, which from the forum itself has a PR3 pagerank, where the pagerank on my profile (username: J J) is PR4, I was quite amazed that the actual forum was PR3 and my profile being PR4; is pretty weird, even though some say pagerank means nothing. - Which in actual fact, thinking logically is correct, as pagerank doesn’t add anything to increase targeting of your webpage even in the Google Directory/Search engine, though ads can be sold to have your web domain in my signature/profile. However after searching, I looked around I don’t believe anyone else has the same PR as my profile, even though some people have 10,000+ posts and have been registered on freewebspace.net longer than myself.

It’s some funny stuff that goes on with Google PR, but hey, what can I say? Thanks I guess, to the Google Team, now only if they could do the same to my websites. :) - Then I would be ranting on about it on this blog and I would also be quite happy, as what the rest of the world thinks, is the same as what I should really think. - As PR4 links can be sold, and if I did get some PR4 websites, than link-back-selling, here we come. :)

You view my profile here: http://zuf.in/mypr4profile - As you can see, I’ve used a short url service, in order to preserve the pagerank, as it’s worth it, as long as it is still retaining there.

WiredTree.com - My Review

WiredTree.com - hosting

I’ve posted on several places including the main Vlexo blog of WiredTree.com, which can be seen in these links:

http://news.vlexo.com/review-of-wiredtreecom/

http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?p=4865957#post4865957

I have to say that I love WiredTree, they are a prominent company from which I could put my own life into (i.e. thousands of dollars), as they just seem and are so damn reliable. I can fall on them and they’ll be able to pick me up, even though I’ve squashed them. I just love their service, I’m hoping to buy a full blown Woodcrest server from them in mid-2008, as you cannot go wrong with WiredTree.com. I’ve thought of a few motto’s for them, just for fun:

WiredTree.com - Strong like a Tree, Wired to connect.

WiredTree.com - Secure as a Tree, Wired to the ground.

I can’t think of many more, however just submit what you guys think that would be good as a motto for WiredTree.com, might be good!

FlickCabin Watch Over December 8, 2007

Flickcabin.com

How has FlickCabin been doing? From my perspective, it’s using a large consumption of my bandwidth up (50GB), so I don’t think that a great deal in terms, I’m not getting anything back, so I’m going to put some bidvertiser ads up; to see if I can make something from that. However I went through all the 1000 images uploaded and a huge portion of them were related to porn, I’ve deleted some of them however I’m in the process of deleting rest. - Which is why I’m blogging about this.

So I bassically need a coder, who can code me an administrating area from where I can view all files and folders and further enhance the script itself, as it is lacking a lot! So hopefully I’ll be able to do something with FlickCabin to enhance the service itself! Though again, it’s not going to well as said, it’s using near to 50GB of bandwidth per day and it’s just eating up everything, hopefully I’ll be able to get something back from that bandwidth by putting ads up. :)

Enjoying hosting December 5, 2007

ENJOY!!!

I’m currently enjoying web hosting, especially at Vlexo.com, when we moved over to our new provider, things just simply got better. Due to the fact, that I am now thinking more logically, instead of having this cloud of judgment out there - and due to the other fact that the server(s) that we have now are much more powerful, meaning we can offer more than we used to and with a lot more confidence - due to the 0 downtime network we are on, with WiredTree.com.

We even got this amazing review from one of our free users:

http://borisoft.vlexo.net/vlexo.html
http://forum.vlexo.com/showthread.php?p=14735#post14735

These reviews mean so much to me, and I just enjoy reading such reviews and when a free user even takes the time to make a page for us. Now that’s how things should be. :)
